How we designed, built, wrote and optimised a better digital platform for an Irish sauna brand
Helios Sauna needed more than a better-looking website.
They needed the whole thing done properly: website design, Shopify development, booking functionality, copywriting, technical SEO, local SEO and content strategy.
So, that is what we did.
We migrated Helios Sauna from Squarespace to Shopify, rebuilt the website around a smoother booking journey, wrote and optimised key website copy, created SEO-focused blog content, improved technical foundations, and helped the brand grow visibility across high-value sauna searches in Ireland.
In other words, this was not a case of “we tweaked a few meta titles and called it a day”.
This was a full website and SEO rebuild, handled from strategy to implementation.
The challenge
Helios Sauna operates in a fast-growing space. Outdoor saunas, cold plunges, sea swimming and recovery-focused wellness are all becoming more popular in Ireland. Great news for the business, but it also means more competition in Google.
The old website setup was starting to limit what the brand could do.
Helios needed a website that could handle multiple locations, public sauna sessions, private hire, extras, vouchers, promotions and a growing customer base. A simple brochure-style site was not going to support that properly.
They also needed stronger organic visibility. Searches like “sauna Dublin”, “private sauna Dublin”, “sauna Wexford” and “sauna Dun Laoghaire” are not just nice keywords to rank for. These are people actively looking for somewhere to book.
On top of that, the brand needed better copy. The website had to explain the experience clearly, sound like Helios, and guide users towards booking without feeling too pushy or too corporate.
So the project had three big goals:
- • Create a better website.
- • Make it easier for people to book.
- • Get more of the right people finding Helios through search.
Nice and simple. Not easy, but simple.
What we did
1. Designed and built a new Shopify website
We moved Helios Sauna from Squarespace to Shopify to give the business a more flexible and scalable foundation.
This was not just a platform migration. It was a proper rebuild.
We worked on the website structure, navigation, page layouts, booking-focused user journey, location pages, private hire pages, vouchers and promotional areas. The goal was to create a website that looked good, worked smoothly and could support the business as it expanded.
Shopify gave Helios a stronger base for managing booking-style products, location-specific pages, offers and future growth.
We also made sure the structure made sense from an SEO point of view. That meant building pages around how people actually search, not just how the business talks internally.
2. Built a booking-focused user journey
For Helios, the booking journey was one of the most important parts of the project.
The website needed to support multiple sauna locations, public sessions, private bookings, extras and synchronisation between different booking types. That is a lot more complex than dropping a basic booking form onto a page and hoping for the best.
We helped create a clearer path from browsing to booking.
Users could find the right location, understand the session options, choose what suited them and move through the booking process with fewer unnecessary steps.
We also worked on checkout improvements, including reducing unnecessary fields. Small UX changes like this can make a real difference. Every extra step gives someone a chance to hesitate. A cleaner journey helps more users finish what they came to do: book a sauna.
3. Wrote and optimised key website copy
Copywriting was and still is a big part of the project.
Helios needed the website to sound premium but not stiff. Clear but not boring. Relaxed but still trustworthy.
We worked on copy across important commercial pages, including homepage content, location pages, private hire pages and supporting website sections.
The aim was to explain the sauna experience in a way that felt natural to customers while still supporting SEO. That balance matters. Nobody wants to read a page that sounds like it was written only for Google. But if the copy ignores search intent completely, the page is going to struggle to rank.
So we wrote copy that did both.
It helped users understand the experience, the locations and the booking options, while also giving search engines the context they needed around terms like “sauna Ireland”, “outdoor sauna Ireland”, “sauna booking”, “private sauna hire” and location-specific sauna searches.
4. Optimised commercial pages for local SEO
Once the website foundation and copy were in place, we focused on the pages most likely to bring in bookings.
This included the homepage, location pages, private hire pages and sauna booking pages.
We optimised these pages around high-intent keywords such as “sauna Dublin”, “sauna Wexford”, “sauna Dun Laoghaire”, “saunas Dublin”, “private sauna Dublin”, “sauna Ireland” and “outdoor sauna Ireland”.
We also improved heading structures across important page types. In normal human language, this means making the page easier for both Google and users to understand.
The metadata was rewritten too. Meta titles and descriptions need to do two jobs: help the page rank and make people want to click. So we made them more relevant, more specific and more booking-focused.
5. Created SEO blog content around sauna and cold plunge searches
We also built out SEO content around the questions people search before they book, after they book, or while they are getting into sauna and cold plunge culture.
This included topics such as:
- The health benefits of sauna
- Is a sauna good for a cold?
- How hot is a sauna?
- Does sitting in a sauna burn calories?
- How long should you stay in a sauna?
- Sauna before or after a workout?
- Cold plunge benefits
- Ice bath beginner advice
The strategy here was simple: create useful content that answers real questions and brings relevant users into the website.
Not everyone searching “does sauna burn calories?” is ready to book immediately. But they are interested in sauna benefits. That makes them a good audience for Helios.
By creating helpful content and linking it properly to booking and location pages, we helped Helios build topical authority while also supporting the commercial side of the website.
6. Strengthened trust signals across the website
For a wellness brand, trust matters.
People want to know who is behind the business, who manages the locations and whether the advice they are reading is coming from a credible place.
We helped improve this by supporting author bios on blog posts, an “Our Team” page and location manager sections on relevant location pages.
This made the website feel more human, which is good for users. It also supports E-E-A-T: experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness.
That might sound like SEO jargon, but the idea is very simple. Show real people, real experience and real responsibility behind the business.
7. Improved technical SEO and website foundations
Alongside the design, copy and content work, we handled technical SEO improvements to make the site cleaner and easier for search engines to understand.
This included image optimisation, formatting improvements, breadcrumb work, heading structure fixes and structured data review.
We also reviewed review/rating schema opportunities. Instead of forcing markup that could become inaccurate or unreliable, we took the sensible route.
Technical SEO should make a website stronger, not messier. Sometimes the best optimisation is knowing what not to add.
The results
The work helped Helios Sauna increase visibility across both local booking keywords and wider sauna/cold plunge topics.
Some of the standout ranking wins included:
- #1 for “sauna dun laoghaire”
- #1 for “sauna wexford”
- #5 for “sauna dublin”
- #3 for “sauna wexford”
- #4 for “saunas dublin”
- #1 for “does sauna burn calories”
- #2 for “private sauna dublin”
- ..and many more!
These rankings show why the full-service approach worked.
- •The website gave Helios a better platform.
- •The copy made the offer clearer.
- •The technical SEO helped Google understand the site.
- •The content strategy expanded visibility.
- •The booking journey made it easier for users to take action.
That is the sweet spot.
Not just more traffic. Better visibility, better pages and a better chance of turning searches into bookings.
This approach allowed us to build organic SEO visibility ahead of the launch of Helios Sauna’s first floating sauna in Ireland. The location landing page was already ranking #1 a week before the official launch and before bookings opened.
Why it worked
This project worked because we did not treat the website, copywriting and SEO as separate jobs.
They all had to work together.
- A good-looking website is great, but it still needs traffic.
- SEO is great, but the page still needs to convert.
- Copywriting is great, but it needs to match search intent.
- A booking system is great, but only if users can actually move through it easily.
For Helios Sauna, we connected all of those pieces.
We designed and built the website, wrote the copy, optimised the pages, created the content and improved the technical setup.
No handover chaos. No “that’s not our department”. Just one joined-up project.
Very professional. Very organised. Still a bunch of cool guys doing awesome SEO and websites.
Final takeaway
Helios Sauna needed a website that could support growth, handle a more advanced booking setup, explain the brand properly and compete in organic search.
Through website design, Shopify development, booking UX, copywriting, technical SEO, local page optimisation and content strategy, we helped create a stronger digital foundation for the brand.
The result is a website that is easier to manage, easier to book through, easier to understand and easier to find in Google.
That is what happens when the website, SEO and copy all pull in the same direction.
